Two big exams and a great student story

Exams for two of the largest HSC courses, Modern History and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE), took place today.

Comments from teachers about the Modern History paper suggest it was well received.  Teachers were pleased with the use of sources for the new multiple choice questions in Section I and felt the options in other sections offered a fair choice for their students.

There were 10 222 students entered for the Modern History exam and 14 444 for PDHPE.  Modern History is the ninth largest HSC course this year, and PDHPE is fifth largest, up from sixth place last year.

This year’s Higher School Certificate students, brought together, could replace all the residents of a regional city like Coffs Harbour.

With such a large candidature, it’s always good to be reminded of the thousands of individual stories in every HSC.

This article in today’s Daily Telegraph touched many of the Board’s staff.

Teachers and principals who know of students who have overcome significant disability or disadvantage to perform well in the Higher School Certificate may nominate them for the annual Brother John Taylor Memorial Prize.
