Marking HSC exams onscreen

The marking of HSC examinations is well underway. Approximately 7000 highly qualified teachers will mark this year’s exams in Sydney venues and in regional marking centres including Bathurst, Wagga Wagga, Newcastle, Wollongong and Tamworth.

As part of the Board’s ongoing plan to increase the use of computers and technology in exams, approximately 25 percent of this year’s HSC and School Certificate responses will be marked ‘on screen’.

Students' exam answers are scanned and distributed via a secure internet site to markers who view responses and record their marks on computers.

Close to 1000 teachers have engaged in onscreen marking for this year's marking operation. They have marked from locations from Sydney’s CBD to Coffs Harbour. As of Friday 19 November over one million scripts had already been marked onscreen.
