Teachers of Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese and Korean are advised that the Heritage Languages HSC examination specifications on pages 7 to 9 of the Assessment and Reporting in CCAFL Heritage Languages Stage 6 courses – Chinese (Mandarin), Indonesian, Japanese and Korean have been amended. Following the input of a wide range of expert assessors, amendments have been made to reduce the length of written texts in Section 1: Responding to texts and of required responses in both Sections 1 and 2. The balance of marks has been adjusted slightly in accordance with these changes.

The amendments are summarised as follows:

  • the written examination will now be worth 75 marks and the oral examination will be worth 25 marks
  • Section 1: Responding to texts will now be worth 50 marks
  • the total lengths of the written texts in Section 1: Responding to texts have been reduced
  • the length of responses in [Language] in Section 1: Responding to texts have been reduced
  • the length of the response in Section 2: Creating texts has been reduced.

Please refer to the Assessment and Reporting document for each course which has been updated on the Board’s website to include these amendments.
