Official Notice - Stage 6 English Studies pilot program extended to Preliminary Year in all secondary schools, 2011

In May 2009, the Board approved the development of the Stage 6 Content Endorsed Course, English Studies to be trialled in a pilot study for a limited number of approved schools.
The Board has extended this pilot study to include any secondary school wishing to offer the English Studies course for their Preliminary Year candidature in 2011.
The Board also approved English Studies to fulfil related pattern of study requirements for the award of the Higher School Certificate.
Guidelines for Schools form part of this notice.
The English Studies course will continue to be monitored and evaluated with regard to the appropriateness of the course and its impact on retention in Years 11 and 12. Schools that participate in this pilot will be asked to provide feedback as part of the ongoing evaluation.
