School Certificate 2: Tuesday November 8

90 491 students were enrolled in at least one School Certificate subject as of 1 September 2011. More than 86 000 students will sit for all five final tests in more than 820 schools across New South Wales.

09.25-11.30 Mathematics

The test has two sections.

Section 1 (25 marks) is 25 short-response questions. Questions 1-20 are answered on a machine-scored answer sheet. Questions 21-25 are answered in the question booklet. Calculators cannot be used for this section.

Section 2 (75 marks) has two parts, A and B. Calculators can be used in both parts.

  • Part A (55 marks) is 50 multiple-choice questions and five multiple correct/incorrect questions, answered on a machine-scored answer sheet.
  • Part B (20 marks) has four questions, each containing several parts, worth five marks each. All answers to Part B are written in the question booklet.

All questions are compulsory.

12.50-15.00 Australian History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship

The two-hour paper has two sections. All questions are compulsory.

The Australian History, Civics and Citizenship (50 marks) section has questions based on the History Syllabus.

  • Part A (20 marks) is 20 multiple-choice questions answered on a machine-scored answer sheet.
  • Part B (30 marks) has a number of short answer questions and one extended response. Answers are written in the spaces provided on the question paper.
