HSC update for principals
As Term 1 comes to a close, there are several aspects of preparations for the 2011 HSC principals should be aware of.
- The 2011 HSC Events Timetable has now been amended. The key update is that the 2011 HSC written examinations will conclude no later than Friday 11 November.
- You are about to receive the HSC Assessment and Submitted Works brochures for distribution to Year 11 and 12 students, parents and relevant teachers. These brochures provide sound advice to students for the successful completion of their assessment tasks, and will also help teachers and parents to support and advise students. These brochures supplement the Board’s HSC: All my own work program which values honesty and good scholarship in the HSC.
- You will have received copies of the 2011 HSC Languages Oral Examinations Timetable and the Important Dates for Project/Performance Marking. These resources provide dates for these important milestones, and should be displayed appropriately in your school. The package also included important information on the Board’s requirements in regard to teacher certification of student projects submitted for assessment in the HSC.
- Applications for Disability Provisions for the 2011 Higher School Certificate examinations opened in Term 4 last year, and earlier this year for the School Certificate tests. All applications are lodged online via Schools Online.
Disability Provisions applications are processed by the Board as soon as possible after they are lodged by schools. So far this year, almost all schools have been notified of the results of their application within two weeks. Principals have commented that early notification of provisions approved for students for the Higher School Certificate or School Certificate has assisted them in determining appropriate provisions for the students in school-based tasks.
