On 25 October 2012, the State Library of NSW in collaboration with the Board of Studies NSW presented Word Express – English Extension 2 Seminar. 120 teachers and Year 11 students attended the event.

The event featured a combination of lectures and small group workshops that provided students with the opportunity to test their ideas and ask questions of experienced teachers, markers, librarians and recently graduated students.

Sessions focused on providing practical strategies and resources, which will assist students to create their major work. 2011 English Extension 2 students, featured in the 2011 Young Writers Showcase, also spoke about their high-scoring major works and the creative process they each undertook during development.

The event was part of the Word Express showcase – a new showcase for 2012 that was added to the Board’s existing showcase and exhibition portfolio. Word Express showcases the work of Year 12 HSC English Extension 2 students, selected for inclusion in the Young Writers Showcase.
