Expressions of interest: Work sample collection project to support the Record of School Achievement

The Board of Studies is currently undertaking a project to strengthen support for school-based assessment and the award of grades for Year 10 and Preliminary courses. The project will involve the collection of a range of work samples that relate to syllabus based assessment activities. The work samples will be aligned to grades and published on the Board’s Assessment Resource Centre (ARC) website.

The requirements of the Record of School Achievement include the continuation of grades for courses studied in Stage 5 at the end of Year 10. In addition from 2013 students will also be awarded a grade for their achievement in Preliminary courses.

The Board is seeking expressions of interest from teachers across subjects who would be interested in contributing to this project during 2012.

It is anticipated that teachers would administer tasks related to their existing programs and collect associated work samples that represent a range of levels of achievement. It would be particularly valuable to incorporate innovative approaches through tasks that may for example be project based, involve collaborative learning, and incorporate ICT in the process or product.

Teachers or staff groups are invited to contact Ms Vanessa Bain to register their interest and to learn more about the project.
