Download The Sydney Morning Herald Youngest Writer: WriteOn poster for your staff room

A downloadable poster is now available promoting The Sydney Morning Herald Youngest Writer: WriteOn competition. Primary schools are encouraged to display this poster in their staff rooms to increase awareness of the competition and encourage participation.

Last week, entries opened for The Sydney Morning Herald and Board of Studies NSW writing competition for NSW students in Years 1–6. This competition is designed to encourage students to develop their writing skills in an engaging way.

Using the selected photograph for inspiration, students are invited to enter a short written work of up to 500 words. Entries should be a description, exposition, narrative or recount.

The competition can be used as a whole class teaching activity or as an individual project for some students.

For more information about the competition, including guidelines and selected photograph visit http://smhyoungestwriter.bos.nsw.edu.au/
