Minister launches Program Builder for the new NSW K-10 syllabuses

Minister for Education, the Hon. Adrian Piccoli today launched at Homebush Boys High School the new Program Builder for teachers implementing the new NSW syllabuses.

Program Builder is now available for primary and secondary teachers to sign in and start programming their lessons using the new K–10 NSW English, Mathematics, Science and History syllabuses.

Designed by the Board of Studies NSW, Program Builder is an online tool using content from the new NSW syllabuses for the Australian curriculum to assist teachers to create scope and sequences and units.

Government teachers are able to log in using their DEC (Department of Education and Communities) portal details. Non-government teachers are able to log in to their Program Builder account using their Scootle account details.

See ‘inside’ a Program Builder account – watch the 55 second introduction to Program Builder video now.

Program Builder has been developed alongside a range of support materials to assist teachers in NSW to implement the new NSW syllabuses. Support materials include advice on planning for and designing effective learning and assessment, differentiated programming, sharing learning and assessment intentions, and integrating ICT capability. There is also advice on scope and sequences and units as well as a range of samples.

The new NSW syllabuses were launched in October 2012 for implementation from 2014. View the implementation timetable for details. In 2013 schools will continue to use the existing NSW K–10 syllabuses.

Scootle is a website which provides teachers with access to digital curriculum resources from the National Digital Learning Resources Network. The process for gaining log in access to Scootle is explained on the Program Builder site.
