Official Notice: Stage 5 and Preliminary course work samples to be retained

BOSTES 07/14

Who needs to read this notice:
Principals
Curriculum coordinators
Head teachers
Teachers of Years 10 and 11

BOSTES' enhanced grade monitoring procedures for Stage 5 and Preliminary courses require schools to keep student work samples and the associated assessment activities for the following courses in 2014.

Stage 5 courses Preliminary courses
English English (Standard)
Mathematics English (Advanced)
Science Mathematics
Australian Geography Mathematics General
Australian History Biology
PDHPE Chemistry
  Physics
  Business Studies
  Legal Studies
  Modern History
  Community and Family Studies
  PDHPE

For each of the courses listed, a minimum of three work samples, representing the upper, middle and lower range of achievement of the current cohort, should be retained in a format that can be uploaded electronically. Each of these work samples should demonstrate performance towards the end of the stage that is typical of the student(s) awarded a particular grade (A to E) by the school.

The purpose of retaining work samples is to enable schools to provide evidence of their interpretation of the standards for a course where BOSTES' monitoring processes require them to do so.

Further information about retaining student work samples can be found on the RoSA Grades section of the BOSTES website.
