Indonesian researchers discuss curriculum and assessment with BOSTES

A delegation from Indonesia researching curriculum and assessment visited BOSTES recently.

The delegation led by Sri Hidayati, Head of the Curriculum Division at the Indonesian Ministry of National Education, met Paul Hewitt, Executive Director of Curriculum, Teaching and Assessment, and other senior BOSTES staff to find out more about the NSW curriculum and HSC.

The discussion covered plans for developing the Indonesian curriculum and assessment system, the extent to which the NSW curriculum addresses the diversity of learners, and the support materials available to implement new syllabuses.

In Indonesia just over 7 million students a year sit a national exam in Years 9 and 12. Tests are all multiple choice. The Indonesian government is looking at introducing exams with short written responses and is trialling computer based testing.
