Morning

Community and Family Studies
Candidature: 8274 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM
The paper consists of two sections.Section I Core (75 marks) consists of two parts.
Part A (20 marks) - 20 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Part B (55 marks) - short response questions answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
All questions in Section I are compulsory.
Section II Options (25 marks) consists of short-answer questions to the value of 10 marks, and an extended response question worth 15 marks, one for each option. Students answer the short-answer and extended response question on the option they have studied.

Engineering Studies
Candidature: 2063 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM
The paper consists of two sections.
Section I (20 marks) consists of multiple-choice questions, answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Section II (80 marks) consists of approximately seven questions, each made up of parts and answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
All questions are compulsory.
A formulae sheet is attached to the examination paper.

Heritage Indonesian
Candidature: 9 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 9:30 AM Ends: 12:10 PM
The paper consists of two sections.
Section 1 - Responding to texts (50 marks)
In this section, students respond to questions based on one or two stimulus texts which may be written or recorded. Questions may integrate the skills of listening, reading and writing. Questions are phrased in Indonesian and English, for responses in English or Indonesian, as specified.
Section 2 - Creating texts in Indonesian (25 marks)
In this section, students write an evaluative or persuasive or reflective text in Indonesian. Students answer one question from a choice of two. The questions will be phrased in Indonesian and English, for responses in Indonesian. Students are expected to write approximately 250 words.

Afternoon

Aboriginal Studies
Candidature: 564 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM
The paper consists of three sections.
Section I (55 marks) consists of three parts.
Part A (25 marks) - multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
Part B (15 marks) - six questions in parts, one for each topic. Students select one question.
Each question is worth 15 marks.
Part C (15 marks) - one extended response question.
Section II (15 marks) consists of one question structured in parts.
Section III (30 marks)
There are two questions based on each option, one worth 10 marks and one worth 20 marks.
Students are required to answer the questions from the option they have studied.
A separate source booklet is provided.

Arabic Beginners
Candidature: 3 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 4:40 PM
The paper consists of three sections.
Section I – Listening (30 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Arabic. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English.
Section II – Reading (30 marks)
In this section, students read texts in Arabic and answer questions phrased in English, for responses in English.
Section III – Writing in Arabic (20 marks)
This section consists of two parts. Part A is made up of two questions phrased in English, requiring responses in Arabic. Part B consists of two questions phrased in English and Arabic, requiring responses in Arabic. Students answer one question.

Arabic Continuers
Candidature: 220 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 5:00 PM
The paper consists of three sections.

There are two writing tasks. For the second writing task, students have a choice of two extended-response alternatives.

Classical Greek Continuers
Candidature: 16 (as at 1 September 2016)

The paper consists of three sections.
Section I: Prescribed Text – Prose (35 marks)
In Section I students translate one or two extracts into English (10 marks). They also answer short-answer questions based on two or three extracts from the prescribed texts (15 marks). Then students answer one extended response question that may be based on an extract and that may call for comment upon the text as a whole (10 marks).
Section II: Prescribed text – Verse (35 marks)
In Section II students translate one or two extracts into English (10 marks). They also answer short-answer questions based on two or three extracts from the prescribed texts (15 marks). Then students answer one extended response question that may be based on an extract and that may call for comment upon the text as a whole (10 marks).
Section III: Unseen Texts (30 marks)
Students translate unseen prose and verse texts into English (20 marks), and respond to short-answer questions on these texts (10 marks).

Earth and Environmental Science
Candidature: 1640 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM
The paper consists of two sections.

Section IV (20 marks) consists of one structured extended response for each of the streams. Students are to answer the question on the stream they have studied.
