US study opportunity for high school teachers

The US Government is offering an Australian high school teacher the chance to attend a fully funded five-week seminar in the United States next year.

All associated costs, including international travel and allowances, will be covered.

The seminar is designed to promote a better understanding of the US among teachers of humanities and social sciences in secondary schools. Program dates will be announced in mid-April but are expected to be from early June to August 2017.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with little or no prior experience in the United States, whose school is seeking to:

  • introduce US studies into its curriculum
  • develop new courses on the seminar subject
  • to enhance and update existing courses on the US
  • offer specialized seminars/workshops for education professionals in US studies.

Interested teachers should email the US Embassy via cultural-exchange@state.gov for an application form.  The deadline for applications is Friday 13 January 2017.
