HSC minimum standard resources available
BOSTES is developing resources for principals, teachers, parents and students further explaining the minimum literacy and numeracy standard for the HSC from 2020.
An A3 poster and A4 flyer provide an overview of the:
- level the standard has been set
- online tests available for students to demonstrate they meet the standard.
Importantly, these materials clarify the role of Year 9 NAPLAN tests, which provide students with an early opportunity to meet the standard. No student will be ineligible to sit the HSC on the basis of their Year 9 NAPLAN results.
With a stronger focus on literacy and numeracy in schools, modelling indicates the vast majority of students will demonstrate the minimum standard by the end of Year 12.
BOSTES continues to work with principals and other stakeholders to plan for the implementation of the requirement in 2020. We will keep you up to date as details are finalised.
