Higher School Certificate Examinations Friday 23 October 2015

Morning

Aboriginal Studies
Candidature: 430 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM

The paper consists of three sections.
Section I (55 marks) consists of three parts.
Part A (25 marks) - multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
Part B (15 marks) - six questions in parts, one for each topic. Students select one question. Each question is worth 15 marks.
Part C (15 marks) - one extended response question.
Section II (15 marks) consists of one question structured in parts.
Section III (30 marks)
There are two questions based on each option, one worth 10 marks and one worth 20 marks. Students are required to answer the questions from the option they have studied.

Chemistry
Candidature: 11060 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM

The paper consists of two sections.
Section I Core (75 marks) consists of two parts: Part A – 20 multiple-choice questions (20 marks), answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet, and Part B – short response questions (55 marks) answered in the spaces provided on the question paper. All questions in Section I are compulsory.
Section II Options (25 marks) consists of five questions, one for each option. Students answer the question based on the option they have studied. The question is answered in two separate writing booklets.

Tourism, Travel and Events
Candidature: 399 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
9:25 AM Ends: 11:30 AM

The paper consists of four sections.
Section I (15 marks) consists of 15 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Section II (30 marks) consists of short-response questions answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
Section III (15 marks) consists of one extended-response question answered in a separate writing booklet.
Section IV (20 marks) consists of one structured extended response question for each of the streams. Students are to answer the question on the stream they have studied.

 

Afternoon

Classical Greek Continuers
Candidature: 14 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of three sections.
Section I: Prescribed Text – Prose (35 marks)
In Section I students translate one or two extracts into English (10 marks). They also answer short-answer questions based on two or three extracts from the prescribed texts (15 marks). Then students answer one extended-response question that may be based on an extract and that may call for comment upon the text as a whole (10 marks).
Section II: Prescribed text – Verse (35 marks)
In Section II students translate one or two extracts into English (10 marks). They also answer short-answer questions based on two or three extracts from the prescribed texts (15 marks). Then students answer one extended-response question that may be based on an extract and that may call for comment upon the text as a whole (10 marks).
Section III: Unseen Texts (30 marks)
Students translate unseen prose and verse texts into English (20 marks), and respond to short-answer questions on these texts (10 marks).

Community and Family Studies
Candidature: 8132 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of two sections.
Section I Core (75 marks) consists of two parts.
Part A (20 marks) - 20 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Part B (55 marks) - short response questions answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
All questions in Section I are compulsory.
Section II Options (25 marks) consists of short-answer questions to the value of 10 marks, and an extended-response question worth 15 marks, one for each option. Students answer the short-answer and extended-response question on the option they have studied. The question is answered in separate writing booklets.

Software Design and Development
Candidature: 1812 (as at 1 September 2015)

The paper consists of three sections.
Section I (20 marks) consists of multiple-choice questions, answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Section II (60 marks) consists of approximately 10 questions, some which may be made up of parts and answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
All questions in Sections I and II are compulsory.
Section III (20 marks) consists of two questions, one for each option. Students answer the question on the option they have studied. The question is answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.

Heritage Korean
Candidature: 64 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
2:00 PM Ends: 4:40 PM

The paper consists of two sections.
Section 1 - Responding to texts (50 marks)
In this section, students respond to questions based on one or two stimulus texts which may be written or recorded. Questions may integrate the skills of listening, reading and writing. Questions are phrased in Korean and English, for response in English or Korean, as specified.
Section 2 - Creating texts in Korean (25 marks)
In this section, students write an evaluative or persuasive or reflective text in Korean. Students answer one question from a choice of two. The questions are phrased in Korean and English, for response in Korean. Students are expected to write approximately 625 ja.
