Guidelines for the discontinuation of small candidature HSC courses

BOSTES has approved guidelines for the discontinuation of small candidature HSC courses.

Courses where HSC candidature numbers fall below 15 in three consecutive years will be subject to a discontinuation process. If, after the first year, HSC course numbers increase to more than 15, the process would recommence the following year.

An overview of the process is set out below.

Guidelines for the Discontinuation of Small Candidature Courses

Year one – Course numbers fall below 15 at HSC Year two - Course numbers < 15 Year three - Course numbers < 15 Year four
Year five
Official Notice is generated flagging the possible discontinuation of the course Letters sent to those schools that have previously offered the course, advising them of possible discontinuation Official Notice advising that Year four will be the last Year in which the Preliminary Course will be offered Official Notice advising of the discontinuation of the course with the following year’s HSC examination Last HSC course
