Anzac Day 2015 resources

This Anzac Day, the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing, is an opportunity to teach children the broader significance of this important historical event, the sacrifice of those who served the nation in wars and the importance of peace.

The History K–6 Syllabus has specific Stage 2 outcomes related to Community and Remembrance that provide a basis for teaching about Anzac Day. The relevant outcomes are:

  • identifies celebrations and commemorations of significance in Australia and the world HT2-1
  • describes and explains how significant individuals, groups and events contributed to changes in the local community over time HT2-2
  • applies skills of historical inquiry and communication HT2-5

The BOSTES website has a range of educational resources, including those about Australia's involvement in world wars, that provide instant access to high–quality materials to assist teachers and students in preparing for Anzac Day.
