Use of mobile telephones in HSC performance examinations

HSC students are not permitted to take a mobile telephone into examinations, except for performance examinations where it is being used to play a backing track or audio example (Music) or music and/or sound effect (Drama).

In these cases, students must advise the markers prior to commencing their examination. The mobile phone must be in flight mode; if the phone rings during the performance, mark penalties may apply.

Schools are asked to ensure that teachers facilitating at HSC performance examinations, accompanists and students, who are part of the audience for Drama examinations, have their mobile phones turned off before they enter the performance space/examination room.
