Primary schools - send your entries for WriteOn

The Board’s popular K-6 writing competition, WriteOn, is open for 2011 and all NSW primary schools are encouraged to take part.

Once again, students will use a set photograph to write a description, exposition, narrative or recount of up to 500 words.

Entries close at the end of Term 2 and winners will be announced during National Literacy and Numeracy week 29 Aug – 3 September.

The competition will be judged by a panel of primary school teachers with Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners chosen from each stage.

The competition is proudly sponsored by The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sun-Herald.

Gold award winners will receive a gold certificate, a Dymocks gift voucher and a 12-month subscription to The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sun-Herald.

Their entries will also be published by the Board of Studies NSW and one entry will be chosen for publication in The Sun-Herald.

A certificate will be sent to Silver and Bronze recipients via their schools and teachers can download a participation certificate from Schools Online for every student who enters the competition.

Schools should read the competition guidelines and submit their best entry from each stage by 1 July 2011. Visit the WriteOn website for more information.
