Morning

 

English (Advanced)

Candidature: 26857 (as at 1 September 2014)

Paper 2 – Modules

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 11:30 AM


The paper consist of three sections.

Section I (20 marks) Module A: Comparative Study of Texts and Context

Section II (20 marks) Module B: Critical Study of Texts

Section III (20 marks) Module C: Representation and Text

Students must answer three questions, one from each section. All questions require an extended response and are of equal value.

 

English (ESL) Paper 2

Candidature: 2336 (as at 1 September 2014)

Paper 2 – Modules

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 10:30 AM

The paper consists of two sections. Students must answer one question from each section.

Section I (20 marks) Module A: Experience Through Language

Section II (20 marks) Module B: Texts and Society

Each question requires an extended response.

 

English (ESL) Listening Paper

Candidature: 2336 (as at 1 September 2014)

Listening paper

Begins: 10:40 AM Ends: 11:10 AM

Students listen to a text recorded on CD.

The paper consists of a number of questions related to what they hear on the CD.
The questions may be a combination of multiple-choice questions and questions requiring both short and more sustained responses.

 

English (Standard)

Candidature: 32016 (as at 1 September 2014)

Paper 2 – Modules

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I (20 marks) Module A: Experience Through Language

Section II (20 marks) Module B: Close Study of Text

Section III (20 marks) Module C: Texts and Society

Afternoon


Industrial Technology

Candidature: 5451 (as at 1 September 2014)

Automotive Technologies, Electronics Technologies, Graphics Technologies, Metals and Engineering Technologies, Multimedia Technologies, Timber Products and Furniture Technologies

Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 3:30 PM

There are six separate examination papers, one for each of the focus areas listed above. Each paper consists of three sections.

Section I (10 marks) consists of 10 multiple-choice questions, specific to the Industrial Technology focus area studied.

Section II (15 marks) is specific to the Industrial Technology focus area studied, and consists of short answer questions in parts.

Section III (15 marks) is common to all papers and consists of a structured extended response.

 

Korean Background Speakers

Candidature: 67 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening and Responding (20 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A (10 marks), students respond to questions based on one text in Korean. Questions are phrased in English and Korean for responses in English. In Part B (10 marks), students hear two texts in Korean. The question will be based on both texts and will be phrased in Korean and English for a response in Korean.

Section II – Reading and Responding (55 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A, students respond to one or more prescribed texts in either English or Korean. In Part B, students exchange information in response to an unseen text in Korean. The question is phrased in Korean and English for a response in Korean.

Section III – Writing in Korean (25 marks)
Students write an original text in Korean. There is a choice of two tasks. Questions are phrased in Korean and English.

 

Korean Continuers

Candidature: 13 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening and Responding (25 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Korean. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English or Korean, as specified.

Section II – Reading and Responding (40 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A, students read two texts written in Korean and respond in English to short-answer questions phrased in English. In Part B, the question is based on a short text written in Korean. Students respond in Korean to an extended-response question which is phrased in English.

Section III – Writing in Korean (15 marks)
There are two writing tasks. For the second writing task, students have a choice of two extended- response alternatives. 

 

Latin Extension

 Candidature: 106 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 3:55 PM

The paper consists of two sections.

Section I: Prescribed Text (30 marks)
In this section, students translate an extract/s into English, answer short-response questions on extracts, and write an extended response on the literary features of the prescribed text.

Section II: Non-prescribed Text (20 marks)
In this section, students translate from Latin into English and answer short-response questions on the content and literary features of the extract. Students choose to translate an additional extract of Latin into English or to translate a passage of English prose into Latin.


Modern Hebrew Continuers


Candidature: 56 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening and Responding (30 marks)
There are two parts in this section. In Part A (20 marks), students listen and respond to recorded texts in Hebrew. Questions are in English for responses in Hebrew. In Part B (10 marks), students respond to questions on two texts in Hebrew. Questions are in English and Hebrew for responses in Hebrew.

Section II – Reading and Responding (30 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A (20 marks), students read two texts in Hebrew and answer questions phrased in English, for responses in English. In Part B (10 marks), students read a short text in Hebrew. The task is phrased in English for a response in Hebrew.

Section III – Writing in Modern Hebrew (15 marks)
Students are required to write an original text in Hebrew. There is a choice of two questions.
