NAPLAN: expressions of interest for markers

Pearson Research and Assessment (PRA) is seeking expressions of interest from currently employed teachers, recently retired or casually employed teachers to participate in the marking of student responses for the 2014 National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).

It is expected that applicants should have the following:

  • An understanding of criterion-based marking (writing)
  • Sound knowledge of grammar and its structures
  • Strong teaching experience (preferably a minimum of 1 - 2 years Australian experience)
  • English Teaching Background.

It is expected that training will take place approximately between 19 May and 23 May 2014. Final dates to be advised. Marking will begin immediately after the training period and continue until late June. Please note that marking may finish before the end of any published completion date.

Marking sessions will be conducted Monday through Friday either on a day shift or evening shift (note: there is no Friday evening marking shift). In addition to weekday shifts, you will be required to work a day shift on either Saturday or Sunday.

Shifts:

Day shift 8:00AM - 3:00PM Monday to Friday

Evening shift 4:00PM - 8:45PM Monday to Thursday

Weekend shift 8:00AM - 3:00PM Saturday/Sunday

There will be no marking on Monday, 9 June only (Public Holiday).

Markers are expected to attend every session from the start of training through to completion of the marking operation.

All marking and training will be undertaken at Canterbury Park Racecourse.

Please note that your participation in this marking is based on your availability and relief teaching or school reimbursement will not be provided by PRA.
