Brother John Taylor Memorial Prize awarded

Alana Galasso from Meriden and Benjamin Jones from Granville College of TAFE became the 36th and 37th recipients of the Brother John Taylor Memorial Prize on Monday, 17 March 2014.

Alana and Ben’s achievements were recognised at a Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards' ceremony.

First awarded in 1993, the Brother John Taylor Memorial Prize is awarded to a student, or students, who have overcome significant hardship to attain academic excellence in the Higher School Certificate (HSC).

Both Alana and Ben were placed in the Distinguished Achievers List for at least three of their HSC courses despite facing many challenges. Beyond their academic achievements they each demonstrated determination and resilience.

The Brother John Taylor Memorial Prize was established by the Board of Studies NSW (now BOSTES) in memory of Brother John Taylor who was a teacher, principal and Executive Director of Catholic Education, as well as a long-standing and highly respected member of the Board.
