Amendments to examination rubrics for Stage 6 Languages CCAFL Courses

Effective HSC 2016

The HSC examination rubrics for the CCAFL Continuers courses in Armenian, Croatian, Dutch, Filipino, Hindi, Hungarian, Khmer, Macedonian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Serbian, Swedish, Tamil, Turkish and Ukrainian have been amended.

The rubric changes have been agreed nationally and will appear in HSC examinations from 2016.

Key features of the new rubrics include:

  • Closer alignment of the CCAFL rubrics with the wording in the outcomes of the syllabus
  • Closer alignment of the CCAFL rubrics with those that apply to other NSW Languages Continuers courses.

Section 1 Listening and Responding

Part A
Your response will be assessed on how well you:

  • understand general and specific aspects of texts by identifying and analysing information and convey the information accurately and appropriately.

Part B
Your response will be assessed on how well you:

  • understand general and specific aspects of texts by identifying and analysing information and convey the information accurately and appropriately.

Section 2 Reading and Responding

Part A
Your response will be assessed on how well you:

  • understand general and specific aspects of texts (for example, by comparing, contrasting, summarising and/or evaluating) and convey the information appropriately.

Part B
Your response will be assessed on how well you:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the stimulus text
  • write text appropriate and relevant to context, purpose and audience
  • structure and sequence information and ideas
  • manipulate language structures and vocabulary in [Language].

Section 3 Writing

Your response will be assessed on how well you:

  • demonstrate depth of treatment of information, ideas and/or opinions
  • write text appropriate and relevant to context, purpose and audience
  • structure and sequence information and ideas
  • manipulate language structures and vocabulary in [Language].
