The Stage 6 Human Services Curriculum Framework syllabus has been updated to align with version 4.1 of the Community Services Training Package (CHC08) and version 5 of the Health Training Package (HLT07).

Changes to the syllabus include:

• updating the examinable Safety HSC Content focus area to reflect new work health and safety (WHS) and first aid units of competency, WHS laws and guidelines for basic life support
• new HSC mandatory units of competency replacing superseded OHS and first aid units of competency – Follow WHS safety procedures for direct care work, Participate in WHS processes and Apply first aid
• version changes to some units of competency
• qualification code changes for Certificate III in Aged Care, Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance and Certificate III in Health Services Assistance.

Details of the changes are outlined in the Human Services Syllabus Modification History and Official Notices BOS 10/12 (WHS) and BOS 09/12 (Basic life support). The updated syllabus is available to download from the syllabus section of the Board’s website.

The updated syllabus is available for implementation from 2013.

Effective: The updated HSC Content is effective for the 2013 HSC examination and beyond.
