NAPLAN 2013 delayed release of student reports

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has advised of a delay in the national distribution of NAPLAN student reports to schools. ACARA identified an error in the placement of the national average marker in the Year 5 and 7 NAPLAN student reports for Language Conventions. ACARA is devising a strategy to address the issue, which will delay the distribution of student reports to schools.

It is anticipated that the 2013 NAPLAN student reports will be delivered to schools across Australia from 8–11 October 2013, with distribution of the reports to parents to occur in the week Monday, 14 October to Friday, 18 October 2013.

The release of the NAPLAN summary report and SMART data is unaffected and will be available to schools on Friday, 13 September 2013.

Schools also have access to the Participation and Registration (PAR) website during the reporting period to enable a review of student test participation information. Access is read-only and no changes can be made to data.

The Board of Studies will continue to work with ACARA and the other national bodies to distribute the student reports and will advise schools of any further details regarding the reporting timeline.

The 2013 NAPLAN SMART data can be accessed through the NSW DEC portal from Friday, 13 September. Any issues with SMART data should be referred to the NSW DEC at smarttrain@det.nsw.edu.au.
