New online resource from Children's Hospital, Westmead

In 2008, the Children’s Hospital at Westmead developed an interactive burns prevention program for primary school children.

Children up to sixteen years account for many burn injuries each year and there are simple measures we can take to increase their awareness of the dangers.

This online program and teachers’ resource can be used to meet some of the outcomes of the PDHPE syllabus for Stage 2 and 3 students and could also be used as a visual text when exploring the English syllabus.

The online game provides a range of opportunities for discussion, writing of explanations and writing of persuasive texts as well as providing opportunities for students to learn about how to prevent burns.

Activities which involve families including a safety audit of the home are included.
