Changes to the Application Process for Early Commencement of Preliminary Courses/Compressed Curriculum Delivery

Schools currently approved for early commencement

The annual re-application process for schools that have formerly been approved by BOSTES to commence Preliminary courses prior to Day 1, Term 1 of Year 11, using compressed curriculum delivery has been removed.

Instead, schools will be required to notify BOSTES annually that curriculum continues to be delivered using the compressed model and that compressed Preliminary courses commence early (if applicable). This notification will be made through a new facility in Schools Online in 2017.

Schools seeking approval for early commencement for the first time

Schools intending to introduce compressed curriculum delivery and commence Preliminary courses prior to Day 1, Term 1 of Year 11 are required to apply to BOSTES for approval.

A new application form for schools seeking approval for early commencement will be available on the BOSTES website in early 2017.

Applications are due Day 1, Term 3 2017.

Information about early commencement/compressed curriculum delivery

In 2017, rules regarding early commencement of Preliminary courses will be published in a new entry on the BOSTES Assessment Certification Examination (ACE) website.

Information and advice on compressed curriculum delivery will also be published on the BOSTES website.
