Dance Core Appreciation

Candidature: 924 (as at 1 September 2014)

Section II - Major Study Appreciation

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 10:30 AM

Section II (40 marks) This section consists of three questions requiring extended responses. All questions are compulsory.
This paper is attempted only by students who have selected Appreciation as their major study.

 

Dance Major Study Appreciation

Section I - Core Appreciation

Begins: 10:40 AM Ends: 12:00 PM

Section I (20 marks)
This paper consists of two questions requiring an extended response. Both questions are compulsory, and are of equal value.

 

Engineering Studies

Candidature: 2079 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM

The paper consists of two sections.

Section I (20 marks) consists of multiple-choice questions, answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.

Section II (80 marks) consists of approximately seven questions, each made up of parts and answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.

All questions are compulsory.

A formulae sheet is attached to the examination paper.

 

Modern Greek Beginners

Candidature: 47 (as at 1 September 2014)

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening (30 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Greek. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English.

Section II – Reading (30 marks)
In this section, students read texts in Greek and answer questions phrased in English, for responses in English.

Section III – Writing in Modern Greek (20 marks)
This section consists of two parts. Part A is made up of two questions phrased in English, requiring responses in Greek. Part B consists of two questions phrased in English and Greek, requiring responses in Greek. Students answer one question.

 

Modern Greek Continuers

Candidature: 103 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 9:30 AM Ends: 12:30 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening and Responding (25 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Greek. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English or Greek, as specified.

Section II – Reading and Responding (40 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A, students read two texts written in Greek and respond in English to short-answer questions phrased in English. In Part B, the question is based on a short text written in Greek. Students respond in Greek to an extended-response question which is phrased in English.

Section III – Writing in Modern Greek (15 marks)
There are two writing tasks. For the second writing task, students have a choice of two extended-response alternatives.

 

Afternoon


Community and Family Studies

Candidature: 7849 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of two sections.

Section I Core (75 marks) consists of two parts.
Part A (20 marks) - 20 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet. Part B (55 marks) - short response questions answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
All questions in Section I are compulsory.

Section II Options (25 marks) consists of short-answer questions to the value of 10 marks, and an extended response question worth 15 marks, one for each option. Students answer the short- answer and extended response question on the option they have studied. The question is answered in separate writing booklets.

 

Indonesian Background Speakers

Candidature: 68 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of three sections:

Section I – Listening and Responding (20 marks) This section has two parts.
In Part A (10 marks), students respond to questions based on one text in Indonesian. Questions are phrased in English and Indonesian for responses in English.
In Part B (10 marks), students hear two texts in Indonesian. The question will be based on both texts and will be phrased in Indonesian and English for a response in Indonesian.

Section II – Reading and Responding (55 marks) This section has two parts. In Part A, students respond to one or more prescribed texts in either English or Indonesian. In Part B, students exchange information in response to an unseen text in Indonesian. The question is phrased in Indonesian and English for a response in Indonesian.

Section III – Writing in Indonesian (25 marks)
Students write an original text in Indonesian. There is a choice of two tasks. Questions are phrased in Indonesian and English.
 

Indonesian Beginners

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening (30 marks)

In this section, students translate an extract/s into English, answer objective response and short- response questions on other extracts, and answer an extended response question based on an extract/s from the prescribed text.

Section II: Prescribed text – Verse (35 marks)
In this section, students translate an extract/s into English, answer objective response questions and short-response questions on other extracts, and answer an extended response question based on an extract/s from the prescribed text.

Section III: Unseen Texts (30 marks)
In this section, students translate two passages, one verse and one prose, into English, and answer short-response and/or objective response questions on these texts.
