Using the RAP to understand student performance in HSC examination components

The Results Analysis Package (RAP) helps schools to analyse their students' performance in the various HSC examination components.

The Item Analysis and combine questions functions allow schools to group components of an examination to compare State and school means.

For example, a school may want to compare students’ results in the Textiles and Design, Major Textiles Project:

with their results in the written examination component:

From these two graphs, it can be noted that the mean performance in the Major Textiles Project was higher than the State mean.

The cohort’s mean performance in the written examination was closer to the State mean. As a result, the school could decide to review its teaching and learning programs in an attempt to improve the performance of the following year’s cohort in the written component of the Textiles and Design HSC examination.
