Non-government school registration applications due by 31 March 2016

Who needs to read this notice:

Principals and proprietors of non-government schools
Representatives of systems of non-government schools

Effective: Immediately

The deadline for submission of applications from individual non-government schools and registration systems on behalf of member schools is Thursday 31 March 2016 to:

  • renew registration and/or accreditation which expires at the end of 2016
  • renew exemption from registration where exemption expires at the end of 2016
  • register new schools to commence in 2017

The requirements for registration and accreditation are detailed in the Registered and Accredited Individual Non-government Schools (NSW) Manual and the Registration Systems and Member Non-government Schools (NSW) Manual. The most up-to-date version of each Manual is available on the RANGS website.

Advice in relation to the implementation of the new NSW K-10 syllabuses is available on the BOSTES website.

Applications made in 2016 should be based on the implementation timeline for the new K-10 syllabuses and the existing BOSTES syllabuses for other key learning areas.

From Friday 1 January 2016, BOSTES commenced implementation of a new regulatory framework for approving Teacher Accreditation Authorities (TAAs) to make accreditation decisions at Proficient Teacher level. The requirements and processes are detailed in the Guidelines for the Regulation of Teacher Accreditation Authorities for Non-Government Schools and Early Childhood Education Centres . Advice in relation to applications for TAA approval is available in Official Notice 12/16.
