Official Notice - Update to the Hospitality Curriculum Framework for 2011

The Hospitality Curriculum Framework has been updated to the latest version of the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package (SIT07v2.2) and additional HSC courses are available in the Specialisation Study.

Schools and colleges should ensure that RTOs delivering courses from the Hospitality Curriculum Framework amend their teaching programs to reflect these changes.

The key changes to the Hospitality syllabus include:

  • the addition of the option to undertake either a 180-hour or a 240-hour Hospitality Specialisation Study course. The existing options of 60-hour or 120-hour courses will still be available. All four options may be offered to both Year 11 and Year 12 students in 2011
  • minor update to the content of the compulsory unit of competency SITXOHS001B Follow health, safety and security procedures and the Food and Beverage stream unit SITFAB010B Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages
  • changes to the qualifications rules for SIT0307 Certificate I in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) and SIT202017 Certificate II in Hospitality.
