K-12 languages education consultation

Last week, the Board of Studies NSW commenced public consultation on six proposals developed as part of the Review of Languages Education in NSW.

The Review proposals aim to promote a broader, more inclusive languages education for NSW students and it was commissioned by the Minister for Education, the Hon Adrian Piccoli MP.

They were developed following preliminary discussions with key stakeholders and analysis of recent developments in languages education and issues in Australia and overseas.

The proposals are designed to equip all NSW students with the skills, knowledge and dispositions that will enable them to be informed and successful local and global citizens. The proposals are outlined in the Learning through Languages consultation documents, which are available to download at www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/languagesreview

The Board welcomes feedback via its online survey.
