Term 4 professional development workshops

The Board will present a range of professional development workshops in Term 4, 2013.

These workshops are registered professional development under the terms of the NSW Institute of Teachers Continuing Professional Development policy. For teachers accredited at Professional Competence, completion of a workshop will contribute nominated hours towards Institute registered professional development depending on the duration of the workshop.

Term 4 workshops will include:

New and aspiring executive

For school leaders, for example Head Teachers or KLA Coordinators, who have responsibility for the management of curriculum, including syllabus implementation, programming, assessment and reporting. It is developed primarily for staff already in these roles, however teachers aspiring to these roles may also find it helpful. The workshop will highlight the policies and procedures required by the Board of Studies.

Support for primary educators

For staff in primary schools, this workshop is an information session. It will highlight the resources available through the Board of Studies website including a demonstration of the Program Builder tool, resources provided in the grading process and the support packages for students with special needs.

HSC best practice

For school executives who guide professional learning and the management of the HSC in their schools. It delivers information on best practice in understanding HSC processes, the key elements of an HSC school policy and the implementation and design of assessment tasks.

Using the ARC website K–6

Develops staff knowledge in the Assessment Resource Centre (ARC) website, work samples and use of the Common Grade Scale.
