The Board of Studies will conduct public consultation on the Review of Languages Education in NSW between 9 October – 13 December 2013.

The Review is to promote a broader, more inclusive languages education for NSW students and it was commissioned by the Minister for Education, the Hon Adrian Piccoli MP.

The Board has developed six proposals for consultation following preliminary discussions with key stakeholders and analysis of recent developments in languages education and issues in Australia and overseas.

The proposals are designed to equip all NSW students with the skills, knowledge and dispositions that will enable them to be informed and successful local and global citizens. The proposals are outlined in the Learning Through Languages Consultation Paper, Reference Paper and the Overview for Consultation. The documents are available to download from the Board’s website.

The Board welcomes feedback via its online survey.

There will also be consultation meetings held in metropolitan and regional areas as outlined below. For NSW Institute of Teachers accredited teachers, the consultation will contribute to Teacher-identified additional hours. Registration is via the links below.
