Top 2012 HSC music students perform at ENCORE

The Board of Studies NSW ENCORE program for exemplary performances and compositions by 2012 Higher School Certificate (HSC) music students will be held at the Sydney Opera House on Monday 25 February.

President of the Board of Studies NSW, Mr Tom Alegounarias, said ENCORE’s program includes musical genres studied in HSC Music courses such as jazz, classical, vocal, solo and ensemble pieces and original compositions.

“The Music curriculum recognises the importance of music in a student’s education whether they choose to compose or to play other’s works.

“We express our individuality through our selection of music and the ENCORE program reflects a wide range of musical genres for its audiences.

“The students have already performed their musical works at an exemplary level under examination conditions which requires highly refined skills of concentration and being able to perform under pressure.

“These abilities, when supported by their undeniable natural talent, promise a special music experience for all attending.

“I am sure you will see a few encores after each performance,” Mr Alegounarias said.
