The Board invites suitably qualified teachers to apply to mark the 2013 HSC examinations.

New applicants need to complete a registration form, which can be found on the Markers Online home page.

Marking is a very rewarding professional development activity. The benefits include:

• developing marking skills and discussing assessment and marking issues with other teachers
• experiencing the full range of responses from across the course candidature and contrasting different approaches to the examination
• opportunities to apply for positions such as senior marker and judge in the standards setting operation.

Marking of the performance/practical examinations is generally itinerant, and takes place during Term 3. For Language Oral examinations, applicants are encouraged to apply to be examiners as well as markers.

Marking of the written examinations occurs during Term 4, and usually takes place from 4 pm to 9 pm. Marking may be pen-and-paper or onscreen. Marking is held at a number of venues across the Sydney metropolitan area and regional New South Wales (specific courses are marked at particular venues).
