VALE Jay McPherson

Many NSW teachers will be saddened to learn of the passing of the Board’s Creative Arts Inspector, Jay McPherson on 21 February 2013.

Jay joined the Board in 1999 as a Senior Curriculum Officer for Creative Arts and became the Creative Arts Inspector in 2002. Prior to joining the Board, Jay was a Music Teacher and Head Teacher, Creative Arts.

Throughout all those positions, Jay shared his knowledge, wisdom and enthusiasm with countless students and colleagues. The best part of Jay’s professional legacy would surely be the inspiration he generated for the creative arts, in particular, his beloved music.

Jay’s humanity, humour and friendship will be greatly missed, as will his passion and advocacy for the creative arts in education. We are tremendously sad to have lost a friend and colleague so young, but remain grateful for having known him and for his contributions, both personal and professional.
