Morning

Biology
Candidature: 18204 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM
The paper consists of two sections.
Section I Core (75 marks) consists of two parts: Part A – 20 multiple-choice questions (20 marks), answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet, and Part B – short response questions (55 marks) answered in the spaces provided on the question paper. All questions in Section I are ompulsory.
Section II Options (25 marks) consists of five questions, one for each option. Students answer the question based on the option they have studied. Each question is made up of short-answer parts.

Afternoon

French Beginners
Candidature: 632 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 4:40 PM
The paper consists of three sections.
Section I – Listening (30 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in French. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English.
Section II – Reading (30 marks)
In this section, students read texts in French and answer questions phrased in English, for responses in English.
Section III – Writing in French (20 marks)
This section consists of two parts. Part A is made up of two questions phrased in English, requiring responses in French. Part B consists of two questions phrased in English and French, requiring responses in French. Students answer one question.

French Continuers
Candidature: 782 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 5:00 PM
The paper consists of three sections.
Section I – Listening and Responding (25 marks) In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in French. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English or French, as specified.
Section II – Reading and Responding (40 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A, students read two texts written in French and respond in English to short-answer questions phrased in English. In Part B, the question is based on a short text written in French. Students respond in French to an extended-response question which is phrased in English.
Section III – Writing in French (15 marks)
There are two writing tasks. For the second writing task, students have a choice of two extended-response alternatives.

Japanese Extension
Candidature: 188 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 4:00 PM
The paper consists of two sections.
Section I – Response to prescribed text (25 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A, students answer a number of short-answer questions based on a short extract from the prescribed text. In Part B, the question relates to another extract from the prescribed text. Students respond in Japanese to an extended-response question which is phrased in both English and Japanese.
Section II – Writing in Japanese (15 marks)
Students have a choice of two extended- response questions related to the prescribed issues and respond in Japanese.

Software Design and Development
Candidature: 1905 (as at 1 September 2016)
Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM
The paper consists of three sections.
Section I (20 marks) consists of multiple-choice questions, answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Section II (60 marks) consists of approximately 10 questions, some which may be made up of parts and answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
All questions in Sections I and II are compulsory.
Section III (20 marks) consists of two questions, one for each option. Students answer the question on the option they have studied. The question is answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
