NAPLAN Online advice

NSW schools have been advised by the school sectors that paper-based delivery of NAPLAN tests will continue in 2017, with timelines for transition to online delivery to be communicated early next year. (A copy of the message is included below.)

This follows agreement by the Education Ministers that NAPLAN will transition to online delivery over a three-year period from 2017.

Schools and parents wanting to know more can review ACARA’s transition research and development program and other key national information about NAPLAN Online, including frequently asked questions.

A public demonstration site of the online assessment platform is available to schools, students and the community via the ACARA website.  It contains sample questions covering all test domains and NAPLAN year levels. It provides an opportunity for students to become familiar with the question types and format of the online tests and schools to assess the technical requirements for delivering NAPLAN Online.

Further information about the NSW transition from paper-based to online delivery will be provided in the BOSTES Bulletin.

Notification sent to all NSW schools by the school sectors

NSW will continue with pen and paper NAPLAN in 2017. Further information about when NSW will move to NAPLAN Online will be provided in Term 1 2017. Regular updates will follow over 2017 as the three NSW school sectors and BOSTES continue planning to ensure that all our schools and students are ready for NAPLAN Online.

In preparation for the move to NAPLAN Online testing, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has released a series of sample online assessments for students, teachers and the public to access. The Demonstration Site allows schools and students to interact with the assessment platform and to become familiar with the interface, test item types, and functionalities available for use during the tests.

NSW schools will continue to be involved in research studies and platform trialling ahead of the transition to NAPLAN Online, and schools and students are encouraged to access the Demonstration Site to ensure that the move to NAPLAN online will be a success for all.

To access the sample assessments, and for further information on research studies, testing and technical specifications, visit the Online Assessment section of the NAP website: www.nap.edu.au
