Schools Reconciliation Challenge

The 2016 Schools Reconciliation Challenge (SRC) is now open. This annual art and writing competition for students in Stage 3 and Stage 4 supports teachers by providing them with comprehensive resources and activities around reconciliation.

SRC uses art and writing to engage students in reconciliation and to assist educators teach students about Aboriginal issues in an informed, meaningful and culturally sensitive manner. It is also designed to foster respectful relationships between schools and local Aboriginal communities.

Teaching e-kits support teachers to stimulate discussion among primary and secondary students about reconciliation in Australia. Students are encouraged to use the ideas and concepts generated from the discussion to create short stories and artworks. E-kits can be downloaded from the SRC website

The theme for the SRC this year is “Always was and Always will be” and explores different moments across Australia’s history. The competition is open until Friday June 10.
