Japanese Background Speakers HSC exam details for Wednesday 21 October 2009

The Board of Studies joins with the rest of the community in wishing all students the best for their exams. Course: Japanese Background Speakers Date: Wednesday October 21, 2009, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Candidature: 27 (as at 1 September 2009) The paper consists of three sections: Section I - Listening and Responding (20 marks) This section has two parts. In Part A (10 marks), students respond to questions in English for responses in English. In Part B (10 marks), students hear two texts in Japanese. The question will be based on both texts and will be phrased in Japanese and English for a response in Japanese. Section II - Reading and Responding (55 marks) This section has two parts. In Part A, students respond to one or more prescribed texts in either English or Japanese. In Part B, students exchange information in response to an unseen text in Japanese. The question is phrased in Japanese for a response in Japanese. Section III - Writing in Japanese (25 marks) Students write an original text in Japanese. There is a choice of three tasks.
